University of Richmond

Planning Your Program

Richmond offers two majors and one minor through the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

Students enjoy the richest experience in the program when they plan their major thoughtfully, combining program-specific courses with electives that complement their major coursework. In addition to planning their course load, students should consider participating in at least one research opportunity as well as other experiential learning opportunities (possibly an internship that complements their interests or a semester abroad).

Creating an academic plan that includes challenging coursework, research and other experiential learning opportunities is the keystone of the Richmond experience and what makes students studying sociology and anthropology successful after graduation.
